Wrap an origami at the library

The Madison County Library will close Dec. 24-26 in observance of the Christmas holiday and again at 6 p.m. Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

The library has a number of displays and holiday events planned for the remainder of this month:

Merry Christmas origami: Students can make ornaments, boxes and more using festive paper. The program is 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Best suited for age 10 and older.

The display "A Celebration of Quilts" features Christmas quilts by Amanda Whitsel and vintage family quilts from Lillian Chandler.

Origami peace project continues: Learn how to make cranes, and take home paper to help the library reach its goal of 1,000 cranes by Dec. 31. Japanese legend says if you make 1,000 cranes, a wish will come true.

Last-minute gifts: Quick, easy and free ways to make gifts. Supplies and instruction provided for all ages at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 22 and 4 p.m. Dec. 23.
