December stuffed with festive library projects
The Madison County Library will close Dec. 24, 25 and 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday and again at 6 p.m. Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
Also, the library has announced its Red Cross blood drive in November netted 47 participants and 33 pints of blood.
The library has a number of displays and events during December:
The display "A Celebration of Quilts" features Christmas quilts by Amanda Whitsel and vintage family quilts from Lillian Chandler.
Holiday cupcake decorating: Cupcakes are easy to decorate in a fanciful way. Ashley Burton will give hints and suggestions at noon Dec. 11. Please pre-register for the free class, as the limit is 12.
Music, art and drama: The library will host a music and art event for children at 11:30 a.m. for small children.
Origami peace project continues: Learn how to make cranes, and take home paper to help the library reach its goal of 1,000 cranes by Dec. 31. Japanese legend says if you make 1,000 cranes, a wish will come true.
Merry Christmas origami: Using festive paper, students can make ornaments, boxes and more. The program is 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 and 17. Best suited for people older than age 9.
